It's been a while since I've chosen a book to read all by myself without any recommendation from anyone. And this book was FREAKING AMAZING. I can't contain myself, LOL. It completely deserves the 5 stars and even more if I could give it.

Well, I'm gonna try to spit it out. Ahem. So, the title speaks for itself. The main character is a daughter of a madman that just so happens to be performing vivisection brutally and making wild animals into human-like beings----

Okay okay character discussions

Juliet- She was a likable main character, opposing sexism the whole entire time. She seems a bit too stubborn, though, and sometimes really desperate. She's brave but not really brave, and very, very.. brusque. But still a likable protagonist.

Edward- You see, when he first came in I just knew that it was going to be a love triangle. Well then. At first, I abhorred him for ruining the perfect relationship between Juliet and Montgomery, but... Well, Edward is a complex character.

Montgomery- He. Is. Hot. omg. When he first got introduced to the story, I got really excited since I knew that the book was about to get even better than it already was. Montgomery is a kind, caring, and composed man. He keeps his secrets and does what he does for the good of others. He's a true gentleman.

The ending was too much for me to handle. I couldn't even breathe, omg. Like, seriously? THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME, MEGAN SHEPHERD, I CAN'T.

The romance was all right. However, Juliet seemed a bit torn in between and it just annoyed me out of my mind-- LOL at least I know clearly which guy I'm rooting for now

Honestly I have to admit that I'm really disappointed there is going to be a sequel. I mean, I'm glad there's more of the story to see and I'm definitely gonna get the next book when it comes out-- but. But, the ending of this book was absolutely perfect and tragic and, even if there is more to write, I feel like a sequel will ruin the perfectly constructed ending of this book. Well, that's my opinion, anyway.

Nonetheless, I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book and this is definitely a recommendation that I'm willing to give to anyone.

This book was so freaking amazing. Oh my God. I have something to say to y'all. THIS BOOK WAS WORTH THE WAIT. I've been anticipating it for so long now..

The moment that I set my eyes on this book I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed. I mean, come on! Marie Lu! I loved her first book, so why shouldn't I love her second one? DANGIT, I JUST LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. -sobs-

So basically, I've been anticipating this book for more than 5 months, I think. I can't believe I finished it already. So much waiting, so much torture and pain in waiting, and boom, just like that, 2 days, done. Wow. DID I MENTION I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. When it arrived in the mail I recorded a video of me tearing open the package. I filmed it for a friend but apparently other people found my video too and said my screams deafened their ears, LOL. I just couldn't stop laughing. I told them it was a releasing of my inner fangirl instincts especially considering how long I've been anticipating its release and arrival to my house.

So, in the first book, Day was super hot. I loved him. He was hilarious, mischievous, and cocky all at the same time and that just adds up to be super-hot-boy. Ughhhh. And then his hurrrrrr and his speed and agility and strength and tolerance ugh it just gets to you yaknow. I missed him a lot during my wait for this book to come out, so reading this book and the chapters in which he got to narrate was like quenching a crazy thirst after working so long and hard or peeing when you really need to pee. But I wasn't relieved, like when you relieve yourself of urine. I was filled with adrenaline and excitement because, hey! It's DAY! He used to be my fictional boyfriend but that was before I read the Cassandra Clare books, LOL. Day's narrating text is blue in this one. It's super hot. Text color is hot, what? omg I just think it's hot ok. I love how Day's narration is blue and June's narration is black because, like some other reviewers said, Day is just the boy version of June and June is basically the girl version of Day. If they weren't differentiated between color I probably would have gotten really irritated because I'm not very good at reading books with two narrators. Although it's really fun to write one..

Reading the first page of this book already sent a jolt through me because I realize how vain I was when I first read Legend and became obsessed with it. To be honest, I used a lot of ideas and concepts from this series to form my own world of dystopia. Out of all the books I've read in the past, I happened to remember Legend the best because of all the ideas I borrowed for the book I'm currently writing today. I realize that I'll have to add more touches of Liana than I already put in to make it something truly unique and amazing.

So the romance. I think many people knew how much I dreaded a love triangle. June and Day, Day and June, PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER. At first, I was like, AIN'T NOBODY GOIN' TO STEP IN AND RUIN THEIR HAPPINESS OK. But then, I started to have second thoughts. Maybe they aren't so perfect after all, but I really can't bear it if either of them ended up with other people. So my dreading of a love triangle was really in vain because it ended up as a love-pentagon. For all Legend readers and lovers, y'all know we all hate Thomas. Why can't we exclude him from this pentagon. Gosh. Love square?

June changed a lot. From the tough and rich and akjfa;jsklj prodigious smart girl she was into a desperate-for-Day's-attention-weakling-girl. I don't like the change because she's thinking about Day all the freaking time.

Actually, I don't even like Day or June that much. They're not really great characters. But Day is still hot and June is still smart. But really? They're not the type of characters that I usually like. The only characters I've ever liked are either unimportant or dead. 

I wanted to finish this book so much that I stayed up at night and sacrificed my much-needed few hours of sleep to read. Meanwhile setting alarms on my phone to wake up later in the night so I don't get knocked out on the book completely. I earned myself eyebags. I read from a cellphone light for more than 4 hours under my bed covers, with the lack of air, meaning I sought air every miniute. My point is, I was really uncomfortable and I knew that I could be sleeping instead of reading, but I did know that I wanted to finish it up and write an amazing review for it because my blog misses me. But mainly because Marie Lu is just flipping amazing.

I was just so sick of the Dystopian genre that I wanted to take a break for a while, but when I read this I knew I couldn't put it down. It was a truly amazing, touching, sad (oh, yeeeeeah. I cried like 234839048320984 friggin times), and gorgeous read. I highly recommend this series to both girls and boys.

I wanted to read this book before I got any further in the Maze Runner series. I only read the first book, and when I found out there was a prequel I knew I had to read it first. Well, since it's a prequel, people might think that reading this first would be better than reading the whole trilogy and 
then reading this. IMHO, I think that if there's any prequel it's better to read the whole trilogy/series first before reading the prequel so you don't spoil anything for yourself and have your questions answered afterwards. I would have finished the whole trilogy first but it just happened that I had access to this book first..

James Dashner is actually a good writer, really. He keeps you sucked into the stories and suspenseful moments are SO his thing. They keep you on the edge of your seat until it's over. However, what I don't like about his writing (and probably never will) is his attempt at romance. All he does is make them hug and cuddle and kiss and "I love you, you love me, yay," nothing like the romance Nicholas Sparks or any other romance author does. My point is, this story would have done fine without the romance.

I found myself not really paying attention in some parts of the book because I was so sick and tired of the storyline. Actually, I'm a bit tired of the Dystopian and Futuristic genre. I need some fantasy in my life. That decides the next book I'm reading... 

This whole thing was centered on this stupid contagious virus that made everyone lose their minds. 

I don't like any of the characters. Maybe Alec, maybe Deedee. But seriously. Mark is just so ruthless. He has no human emotions except for crushing on Trina. Maybe the virus was screwing with his brain but no human being can just kill or torture someone like Mark did, and I don't even know how old Mark is. Gosh. Trina. She seems nice enough. But she's really useless. Well, if I were in her situation I would have done exactly what she's done, because I'm a wuss. She's a wuss too and she's so weak I get annoyed really easily.  Which means that if I were a book character that I had to meet, I would probably hate myself. Alec and Deedee are probably the only characters I don't despise. Deedee acts older than she really is and nothing like a 5 year old should act. If 5 year olds in the future act like that it's just gonna be scary.

And yeah, that's all I have to say. I look forward to reading the rest of the Maze Runner series.

-I apologize for the really lame summary-

I honestly think I spent too much time on this book for me to really give a well-thought-out and accurate rating. Normally 558 pages would have took me 2 days or even 1, but since I was so busy with other things it took me an entire week. Or two. 

I've heard a lot of good things about this book and was pretty excited to read it, because, well. Suddenly, all adults are gone! Doesn't that seem like a wonderful thing?! Just kidding. It's pretty scary, actually, but the main reason I wanted to read this was because it was basically one of my crazy speculations written down in an actual story. 

I swear the guy on the cover, who must be Sam, looks like Liam Payne. I LOVE LIAM. LOL. The girl on the cover must be Astrid. Hmm. Cuties. The romance between Sam and Astrid was good, actually, better than I had anticipated. My friend told me that the amount of romance in this book wouldn't satisfy my romantic needs but-- actually, it did. Probably because I made that friend think that I liked nothing but erotica... Ahem. Anyways. Sam and Astrid are barely 14 years old and what I find somewhat awkward is that he confessed his love for her. Like, "I love you so so much Astrid." I'm sorry but they're only fourteen. And myself, being that age, am somewhat familiar with the concept of 'love' by reading Nicholas Sparks novels and etc, and I know that Astrid and Sam are just crushing on each other. Well, my point is, I think that 'love' was a much-too-strong word to express their affections for each other.

This book reminds me of Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne. In M14, all the adults didn't really 'disappear' like in this book. But the kids were just left alone to take care of themselves and those younger than them. In this book, though, all the adults (15 years and older, actually) just go POOF. And then the bullies just decide to go like "Okay we're in control." And 14 year olds who drink beer and get high and shoot guns are just really, really horrifying. What I find alike between Monument 14 and GONE-- is that the main female role is named Astrid. And there's that girl who has to take care of the little kids and change their diapers and console them, telling them their parents will come and get them. (UGH LITTLE KIDS CAN BE SO ANNOYING GOSH) However, the similarities end there. I liked Gone so much better. Like, SO much better. I think I would have loved it even more if I didn't take so long on it. Weird, I know, the amount of time I spend on a book affects how much I love it..

One thing that annoyed me, though, is that they say 'brah' and 'man' too much. This is such a teenage stereotype. Whenever someone says man or brah in real life I get really irritated, and do you know how much irritation this caused me. LOL.

For some reason I think Michael Grant wrote this book to prove to teens about how parents are so important and to not take them for granted- to prove how hard it would be if all the adults were suddenly gone.

So there's this FAYZ (pronounced 'phase') thing that's just basically a huge circle. If you touch the wall of the FAYZ you get hurt. Which sort of reminds me of my own book-in-progress in a way.. But yeah, that's why they couldn't go anywhere because they were trapped in the FAYZ. Fallout Alley Youth Zone.

I hate all the characters with a burning passion. Except for Edilio and Lana. Lana is super awesome and Edilio is fantastic. Period.

So, basically, it began with Sam's (and his acquaintances) POV and then it was Lana's POV. Both third person, btw. And the whole entire time I was just waiting for them to meet. 

I actually liked Lana's point of view better because all Sam and his friends really did was run away from the bullies, but Lana actually did stuff. Speaking of running away from the bullies, that's what they actually did for like, 4/5 of the book. And then in the last 1/5 Sam decides to fight back. I was just like, FINALLY GOSH

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I am actually looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Okay, that's that.
