Book Review: The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa.

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa.
Book Summary: To survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness…

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.

Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for…again.

Enter Julie Kagawa's dark and twisted world as an unforgettable journey begins.

Liana's Summary: Allison didn't really anticipate this at all. Her creator gave her the option of life or death, and she knew which one she wanted-- even if it meant turning into one of them. Forced to flee, she joins a group of travelers that are searching for Eden, the so-called paradise with no vampires at all.. Along the way, there are some secrets that are unintentionally revealed.

I've been wanting to read this book for quite a while now, actually, and I don't know why I didn't pick it up sooner. Probably because I was just so sick of vampires that I didn't want to even touch another vampire book ever again. Actually, I don't recall the last vampire book I read besides this one..

So, the question is, if I hate vampires, why bother reading this book in the first place? I have a two reasons:
1) High recommendations from people saying that it's not the same as other vampire books
2) THIS IS JULIE KAGAWA WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.

Julie Kagawa is actually a very good writer. Her writing is engaging and descriptive-- what else could a reader ask for?

I ended up enjoying this book so much more than I thought I would. One of the reasons is the main character, Allison. I don't know--- some people would consider her annoying, but.. She just so happens to remind me of myself. Stubborn, determined, annoying, and FEISTY. I can't emphasize 'feisty' enough. That sort of character would usually be considered annoying to most readers, but I found her really amusing. Other than those traits, I don't think we really share anything else.. she can wield a sword while I can't even wield a knife to cut a cake. And I'm not a ninja vampire lady.. although that would be somewhat awesome.

The romance was absolutely perf. At first I got annoyed that Kanin wasn't in the story for more than 150 pages, I think, and I just kept believing that she would fall in love with him instead of freaking Z and I was just waiting for Kanin the whole entire time but no so nevermind LOL  although I think that Allison was just being hysterical and bloodthirsty instead of romantic

The Immortal Rules was a very enjoyable read and I cannot wait to read the second book.

Quotes
Note: This is an ARC Galley edition and the quotes might not be in exact coordination with those of the final print copy's..

"I wasn't thinking of his blood, rushing just below the skin. I wasn't thinking of his heartbeat or his touch or the pulse at his throat. Right now, all I was thinking of was Zeke."

I was beyond angry at how much this one small exclamation screwed everything up. That's it, I despise annoying little kids

"..my offspring.."

This sort of changes my view of Kanin a little

Book Review: Paranormalcy by Kiersten White.

Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1) Paranormalcy by Kiersten White.
Book Summary: Evie's always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she's falling for a shape-shifter, and she's the only person who can see through paranormals' glamours.

But Evie's about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

Liana's Summary: Evie has always wanted to be normal. She tries to consider herself normal. But she's surrounded by paranormal creatures. And she can see through glamours. Her best friend is a mermaid, and her one true love is a shape-shifter. Her ex is a faerie. When things get as normal as they can get, they start to backtrack and things become weird, and scary. What should she do about it?

Rate(1-10): 8.5

So yeah, I was planning to save this book for later but since I had an ARC of the third book lying around, I decided, hey, maybe I should read the first book.. now. And so I read it.

So, this book. I've been wanting to read this for quite a while, although I didn't know what to expect just by looking at the title and the cover. About paranormal creatures? A girl that's a paranormal creature? Fair enough. What I mainly care about is:

-Captivating synopsis
-pretty cover (I know I know gosh)
-Interesting title
-ROMANCE.

And let's just say this book had them all.

What I didn't like was the main character. Evie's great and all but I just can't stand her. Mainly because she reminds me of myself. Naive, indecisive, and some other traits that I'm not proud of possessing.

Let's say that the romance is perfect, and Lend is so hot?

So she's sorta like a cop (not really) that works for the IPCA, an industry or company or whatever they are that keeps paranormals in control. I like how Evie's a tough girl and all, but I dislike the fact that vampires aren't dangerous bloodsuckers but easy conversationalists and portrayed to be a bit too weak in my point of view (maybe I watch too much Vampire Diaries) and I also dislike the fact that there are paranormals EVERYWHERE. Because I don't really like the paranormal genre too much.

But yeah, it was good. I liked it.

Quotes.

"...cute even,"

I smell anticipation and foreshadowing reading these two words

"...he liked me, too!"

Paranormals are dying and she's seeing creepy things in her dreams and Reth is still chasing her and oh hey HE LIKED ME, TOO!

"And I want to show that world to you."

I CAN SHOW YOU THE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORLD

"Evelyn is mine. You are irrelevant."

Reth's arrogance is annoying
this is bad
really bad
really really bad

"I really, really, really liked the feeling of my hand in his."

We get it.

"You should leave, though."

Let me guess, I WON'T LEAVE WITHOUT YOU? LOL.

That's that.

Book Review: The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda.

The Hunt (The Hunt, #1) The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda.
Book Summary: Don’t Sweat.  Don’t Laugh.  Don’t draw attention to yourself.  And most of all, whatever you do, do not fall in love with one of them.

Gene is different from everyone else around him.  He can’t run with lightning speed, sunlight doesn’t hurt him and he doesn’t have an unquenchable lust for blood.  Gene is a human, and he knows the rules.  Keep the truth a secret.  It’s the only way to stay alive in a world of night—a world where humans are considered a delicacy and hunted for their blood.

When he’s chosen for a once in a lifetime opportunity to hunt the last remaining humans, Gene’s carefully constructed life begins to crumble around him.  He’s thrust into the path of a girl who makes him feel things he never thought possible—and into a ruthless pack of hunters whose suspicions about his true nature are growing. Now that Gene has finally found something worth fighting for, his need to survive is stronger than ever—but is it worth the cost of his humanity?

Liana's Summary: Gene's always been told by his father to not bring extra attention to himself. Or he will be dead. He will be torn to pieces and devoured. The best solution is to just pretend to be one of them. One of the bloodsuckers. But, if he lets any of them find out in any abmormal heperly way, he's dead for sure. When he's chosen to be part of The Hunt, his secret is in even more danger of being uncovered. And there's the girl. She has a secret as well. But, what is it? Is it going to be a good thing? Or a bad one?

Rate(1-10): 10

When I first picked this book up, I was like, "Oh snap, this book looks pretty good. I'll give it a try." And OH BOY CAN I SAY THAT I AM SO SATISFIED. This book exceeded my expectations. It was a really spectacular, terrifying, horrifying, and amazing read. The writing is so fabulously amazing I almost died.

The suspense is so gorgeously created and it keeps the readers at the edge of their seats the whole entire time.

So let me just explain my hate for bloodsuckers right here and right now.

I hate vampires. I hate all bloodsuckers with fangs. I don't know. I just hate them (exceptions include Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments) So when I first cracked open this book, I was so irritated and impatient and bored. But then when I got further, everything changed. For the good. Flipping amazing.

Basically, the humans are now a rare species. And 'normal' people are the bloodsuckers. And the bloodsuckers yearn for human blood. They call humans 'hepers.' The main character, Gene, is a heper. (You don't even get to know his name until the very middle wow just wow) He's been taught by his father to not bring extra attention to himself, because, well. He lives in a world of bloodsuckers, and the only way to survive that is to pretend to be one of them. But it's really risky. If he sneezes, coughs, bleeds, etc etc, he's busted, and dead. And the whole time all the bloodsuckers are smelling his odor like 'Do you smell that? It's fresh heper.' And all that is really suspenseful because Gene could die any minute.

Gene, well. I didn't really get to know him that well. Even if he narrated with a first-person POV. He seems sort of shy and timid. I think that we as readers don't get to know him that well because he has no one to express himself to, since he can't do anything without exposing his heperness. However, one thing I know about him is that he's really noble. He illustrated that part of him so well at the end, omg. He'll save someone else before he saves himself. I guess sometimes he's really impatient and stuff. But other than that I don't know anything else about him. Dude, I don't even know how he looks like. But that's kind of good because I imagined him as Jonathan Bennett. If there's no character description then I might as well imagine him as a hot actor. LOL.

Since Gene was immersed in a world full of bloodsuckers he was led to believe what the others believed. That hepers were ignorant, wild, and brainless creatures that didn't know anything.

I hated that because he was so ignorant about the whole thing, like, when he actually met some humans he was like "OMG THEY CAN TALK AND MOVE AND THEY'RE SO ADEPT"

But, what I found interesting was Gene's description of some of the most everyday things we do that we pay no extra attention to, such as laughing, sneezing, coughing, etc. He was really clueless about hepers. Despite him being one himself.

The whole thing made it interesting.

Okay, so the romance.

The romance. I could have done fine without it, honestly. It's not really important except for the fact that the romance was the thing that urged both of the lovers to do all those brave and reckless things for each other that moved the plot forward so much.

It's kinda awkward though. I don't know.

-I KNOW YOUR SECRET
-I LIKED YOU FOR SO LONG
-LIKE ME BACK
-WHAT YOU DON'T LIKE ME BACK
-AT LEAST JUST PRETEND FOR A SECOND OKAY THAT YOU LIKE ME
-HOW DOES THIS FEEL
-WE CAN FIGHT TOGETHER

Even if it's awkward.. it's still awkwardly cute because they actually really like each other.

The ending just killed me so much omg. I was reading it and I saw the last sentence. And then I slapped the book on the table. "ARE YOU SERIOUS."

There were a lot of plot twists throughout this whole book. Did I say that this book was gorgeously and amazingly written?

Now I have to get book 2. That ending.. ugh. Let me be thankful first that this series is actually a series at all. Because if it weren't then Andrew Fukuda would be so brutal to let us readers know that the story isn't gonna continue, that it ended there.

Anyways..
Quotes!
Note: Since the quotes are from an ARC edition of this book, the quotes might not be exactly the same as the final published version's.

"She would be so delicious,.."

There's just something strangely disturbing about talking about humans like they're some lusciously delicious meal.

"Because I can smell heper."

"Those hepers are just like zoo animals."

Actually, bloodsuckers are more like zoo animals.

"It's just so good to have a...friend."

"..heper virgins.."

Is it just me or does that term sound really awkward.

"he's different."

"The Palace needs someone who is well-spoken, thoughtful, restrained, detail-oriented."

"Girls love it."

"Please."

Condescending much?

"Is it so hard to like me?" she asks, whispering, her eyes searching mine. "Is it really that hard?"

"I'm thunderstruck. These hepers speak."

Naaaaaaw.

"What's a 'name'?"

Out of all the I'm-in-dystopia-so-I'm-clueless questions this one was the worst. LOL.

"I thought I heard an asthmatic dog wheezing to death out here,"

"She holds them out to me like a peace offering."
image

"..burning the books."

UGH WHAT WHO BURNS BOOKS ANYWAYS

Book Review: City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare.

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare.
Mortal Instruments #2!
Book Summary: Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father. To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father? In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

Liana's Summary: Clarissa Fray just wants everything back to how they were before, with none of these inconvenient situations happening one after the other. Simon is still desperately trying to show his love, still cautious of Jace Wayland despite the inevitable 'truth'. Clary and Jace know that it can't be, but they need each other. How is this supposed to work out? Anyway, no paying attention to relationship problems at this moment, when the antagonist- is on the loose. Cassandra Clare entertains you the whole entire 453 pages with the humorous, fantastic, and romantic second book of the Mortal Instruments series.

Rate(1-10): 10!

I finally finished this book! After a whole week. Gaah. So much homework and stuff though. D: Screw my procrastination.

Anyways, I have a feeling I'm going to rate all the MI books with 10, just because they're really fabulous and high on my recommendation list. (Great, more updates to Top 10's. Gimme a moment.) Okay, I'm done updating! I will always CONSTANTLY be editing that list!

I know there's a lot of negative reviews on this book, as I have mentioned in the City of Bones review. But it's okay, since the majority of reviewers think it's fab! I'm one of them, of course. (: It's a really high recommendation for all avid readers out there. I mean, this book has EVERYTHING. Fantasy, romance, suspense, action. Gaah.

Since I read the Infernal Devices series first, I thought William Herondale was the PRINCE of Arrogance. And then I met Jace Wayland. Compared to Jace, Will is just so nice and considerate. (Shocker!) But I still like Jace anyway. (:

I know this isn't Twilight, but, I can't really decide between Team Jace or Team Simon. Because they're both so perf, they both give the aura of 'awesome-fictional-guy-character'. Except Simon and his nerdiness. (Video Games. Yugi-oh cards or something like that. He's SIXTEEN.) I don't really mind though, because if they were both perfect, the story wouldn't even be realistic. They both have flaws, and I respect that. Whenever an author tries to make the dreamiest guy, perfect, I don't find him that fab&perf. A guy can't be PERFECT. You know what just popped into my head at that moment. Nobody's Perfect. LOL. How old is that song now?

Oh yeah. There's this HUGE, HUGE, HUGE TWIST that happens somewhere in the middle! You have been warned. c; And some parts in this book were so heart-wrenching that you just want to cry. I completely adore Cassandra Clare. I love her books! J'adore Cassandra Clare's  les livres. Ermagerd. I know how to say it in French, too. And it's like, the second week of school. Oh la la! (':

I love how the author ends the chapter with something suspenseful. I try to do that in my writing, but, it's really hard! The ending of this book is such a cliffhanger too.
I think my review for the first book was longer, since it's when I just expressed all my thoughts about the series and Cassandra Clare's writing. Now I have no more thoughts to express. LOL. Well then, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series, but not at this moment! I take a break between books in a long-ish series. (Explains why there are a lot of book reviews between City of Bones and this one.) So I suppose, it's time for quotes? And yes, I've got a ton.

Oh ,would you look at that!

"You may call me Valentine."

"Every once in a while one of them would speak, but since it was all Japanese with Chinese subtitles, it didn't clarify much."
There's such thing as anime with English subtitles. You know.

"I'm tired of this anime. I can't tell what the plot is and no one ever has sex."
Which is why I love Simon! His ridiculous comments about everything!

"..about to say so when he leaned down and kissed her."

"His mouth was soft, softer than Jace's had been,..."
OH. RIGHT IN THE FACE, JACE. AHAHAH.

"..and yanked the wings off a ladybug."

Ladybugs are the scariest bugs ever.

"If he gave up gaming, it would be her fault,.."

"Hurt?" Jace sounded incredulous. "She's hurt?"

She's butthurt. ;DD

"They call us mundanes. Like they're not human beings. They're not friends with ordinary people, they don't go to the same places, they don't know the same jokes, they think they're above us."

"She lets me pay her in books."

"And ran into a vampire?"
"What? No! I fell!"
"On your neck?"

There are reasons to love Jace. LOLOL.

"Inquisitor Herondale. He's agreed..."

-gasp-

"She flipped the phone open..."
Flip, flip. Flip, flip~ Okay- a flip phone? ._.

"I know, Malik," she said. "These are my children."
OH. MALIK.

"Nobody asked."
The universal excuse for not telling something until they ask about it.

"He shimmered with layers of glitter."
Magnus Bane is the only immortal who can pull off the glitter legitimately.

"I love round tables," said Magnus brightly. "They suit me so much better than square."
King of Sparkles and Randomness.

"He's quoting Dungeons and Dragons," said Clary. "Ignore him."
Oh. LOL.

"She said she doesn't want it," said Simon. "Ha-ha."
"Ha-ha?" Jace looked incredulous. "That's your comeback?"

Alec looked puzzled. "Who's Madonna?"
Oh, Alec!

"As you wish."
-pedoface- The Princess Bride. -pedoface-
"Nothing less than seven inches."
Meliorn gazed at her stonily.
"I'm talking about my heels," she said.

"Because it's impossible," she said,..
Nothing is impossible.

"You even drooled," he added. "On my shirt."
Ew. o:

He widened his eyes. "Something you want to tell me?"

LOLOL. Don't assume things, Simon.

"Get out of the way, mundane," in a tone of immense annoyance.
I like using the Snape gif for everything arrogant.

"Yes," he said, knowing what she was about to ask. " I mean you."
(': And dramatic sad Asian music was playing as I read this ,too. omfg.

"It's a fabulous idea."
 Fabulous.

Luke looked exasperated. "Why would I have a spider? Do I look like someone who would collect them?"
"No offense," Jace said, "but you like of do."

Luke's reply was funny enough. But Jace's comment just made me laugh so hard. omg. I feel a six pack coming.

"I know your name, Magnus Bane."
Hey- that rhymes!

"The Clave does not make threats, Lucian Graymark. The Clave makes promises and keeps them."

"Coffee," he declared. "I need coffee."

"Perfect."
I'm scared. D:

"Could it be that all this is because you're attracted to me?"
His arrogance never dies.

"I deplore this modern habit of calling one's parents by their first name."
I can just imagine Scout Finch saying, "My father will hear about this."

"Nothing," said Valentine, amused. "Yet."
This guy is almost as evil as Voldemort. (NOT) But he's still so darn evil I'm scared every time he says something.

"Okay, now take your shirt off."
"I knew there was something in this for you."

I just love his remarks.

"If you're texting Magnus to say 'I think u r kewl,' I'm going to kill you."
GAY PRIDE, ALEC. GAY PRIDE. LOL. Text him what you like. (x

"I don't care what she thinks. She's a hideous bitch and she has got to be stopped."
This is the part where I feel a liking for Isabelle! (:

"Silver powder."

"Clary," he whispered instead.

"Never," Luke said. "That's not done."
It simply isn't done.

"His skin there was a paler gold.."
He's yellow? (; Jace is Asian?

"Imogen," said Maryse.
"Maryse!" The Inquisitor's voice rose.

Donkey!

"Then my answer is no."
WHAT DID JACE TELL YOU. OH, SMACK IN THE FACE, YOU OLD HAG.

"Bastard!" Isabelle shouted suddenly, and made as if to run forward; Alec grabbed her arm and dragged her backward, holding her there. "He's a dickhead," she hissed, then raised her voice, shouting at Valentine: "You're a-"
I can't agree with Isabelle more. I'm actually starting to like her! (:

"My jacket," said Jace in a rage, and stabbed down at the thing as it rose, piercing its back. It shrieked and disappeared. "I loved that jacket."
Jace's jacket! C'mon! D:

"Teenagers," said Luke,..
Are fab! (;

"And something seized her by the back of her shirt, hauling her upward."
NOOOOOOOO. D: So close!

"..was an Oni demon."
It's anime time.

"There was no answer. ------------ had slumped back against the deck, her eyes wide open and staring, her mouth curved into what almost looked like a smile."
I didn't want to put who died, since that would be a spoiler, so I just put the dashes. Anyway, Jace was so close from hearing what she was about to say! D: But she just died on him like that. Pssh. Oh well. And it's creepy to smile when you're dead! :c
---------------------

Alas. That was a lot to type!

And that is the end of it! What did you think of this review? (:

Book Review: Blood to Blood by Ife Oshun.

Blood to Blood Blood to Blood by Ife Oshun.
Book Summary: Angelika Brown has a killer voice. Too bad her über-conservative parents aren’t happy when she decides to quit high school to be a pop singer. What’s worse, she’s morphing into a blood-drinking immortal and her soaring vocals can now decimate everything, and everyone, within earshot. Will she learn how to control her new powers? Or will her bloodlust cause her to kill her girl group before they reach the Top 10?
Liana's summary: Angel wants to drop out of high school so she can live her life as a professional singer, but her parents absolutely forbid that- except.. they will give her consent only if they have access to all her thoughts- but how could that be? It's only because they're immortals. Blood-drinkers. The protagonist is trying to grow accustomed to being a bloodsucker after she overcomes her Change. She meets Sawyer, and notices he's different from the rest. She meets Justin, her donor, and they start to build a relationship. As Angel is getting used to her new self, she might change the people around her-without even knowing it.

Rate(1-10): 8.5

First of all, I would like to thank Ife, the author of this fantastic book, for sending me a free PDF review copy, giving me the opportunity to read it!

Usually, I really hate vampires. (Thanks a lot, Twilight.) But this book just kind of sort of changed my mind! I didn't think of Twilight at all, which is a good thing.

I think bloodthirsty vampires are really scary for some reason, but this book didn't really scare me, since there was something else to concentrate on. Her dream career! I think it's really cool how she affects people with her singing. Before she was a newborn, she could already affect people. After she was Changed, she affected them even more. I think it's really cool. Her supernatural abilities are envied- by me. They're just so dang cool though! I always had this impression of vampires as bloodsucking beasts that are scared of the sun, but Ife Oshun actually puts in the thing with different types of vampires, and I like that a lot, with the Shimshana blood-drinkers, where they don't have fangs, love the sun, and are not scary pale. But of course, they're gorgeous. ;D

It was a fun Labor Day read. Finished in a few hours! I feel so accomplished. Three books this weekend. (:

I know I marked this as Mythology-ish, since they're kind of talking about Egyptian mythology at this one point in the book. But there's not really the Rick Riordan sort of myth-writing. Just mentions!

I like how the protagonist is African American, since there aren't enough books with Af. Americans as strong protagonists.

I liked the romance here, since it's not too awkward, not too slow, and not too forward. It is completely appropriate for youths, since it's definitely NOT like Fifty Shades of Grey. Ugh. Best of all, though, it was actually believable. Despite the part where she yearned for the poor guy's blood. That's vampy, I suppose.

One thing that's weird are the character attitudes. It's not really natural. And like, every time the girls address each other, they're all-

Literally. It's very weird. It's sort of like a teenage stereotype.

I'm honored to be the first person on Goodreads to review this book. (x I feel so special. (EVEN IF IT JUST RECENTLY GOT PUBLISHED AND IT'S NOT EVEN OUT IN PAPERBACK YET)

Unfortunately, since this was an ebook, it was so much more difficult to do quotes than usual. Therefore, less quotes. Very much unfortunate, for it was such a great story! D:

Well, here you are.

"... and the only thing I'd drunk was Cici's blood."
Ermagerd, that sounds really gross.

"I was hungry. But not for food. I was hungry for Sawyer."

“You really love banana pudding that much?"
“I could love you more,” he said in a low voice.
Banana Pudding Recipe

That moment. When something is so mundane that it's absurd. Banana pudding! LOL.

Instantly, I was at her back, standing before him. His eyes grew widewhen he saw me. “He’s mine,” I seethed before Risa swung around, ready for a fight.

“AB,” I ordered, “with a splash of O. No ice."

No matter how many times I read vampires doing their thing, I still get grossed out.

“Silly girl. I'm not offering myself to you.."

Book Review: Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare.

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare.
Infernal Devices Series #1.
Book Summary: Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still. When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Liana's summary: Tessa Gray is from New York. When she's finally going to see her brother, she's greeted by the Dark Sisters instead. She doesn't know that they know what she doesn't know. So, they take her to London- where she discovers so many things. About warlocks, vampires, hunting demons, and especially, pain and love. Three main characters: Tessa Gray. William Herondale, aka Will. James Carstairs, aka Jem. Three books to the series: Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and coming soon, Clockwork Princess. Cassandra Clare's writing will lure you, and take you to another world-- a world of Nephilim and Downworlders.

Rate(1-10): 10!

This book was one of the best books I've read in a while. It wholly deserves a ten. This is my first Cassie Clare book, and she must be a goddess.

So, you all know there are three characters. Tessa, Will, and Jem. The hot dude on the cover is Will. Btw. On Clockwork Prince, though, it's Jem. And on Clockwork Princess, it's obviously Tessa. Why is she so pretty. omg. Pretty covers. I'm in love.

My friend, after a long while of screaming and fangirling about this book for a while, recommended this book to me as a PRIORITY, so how could I pass?

So. Something about Will. He's tall. And has brown hair. And he's smoking hot in appearance. He may be somewhat of a cocky jerk, but you'll love him anyway.
Something about Jem: Well, he's my favorite. He's half-Chinese and he has silver hair, silver eyes, and pale complexion. No, he's not a vampire. I like him better than Will. It's not really hard to choose after reading this book, really, but then I'm ready for Clockwork Prince to be a major shocker. I'M READY. (MY BODY IS READY) And, just for good measure, Jem always says the wise and inspirational quotes. But still. It's okay Will. I still love you.
About Tessa. Well, I really like her. She's a likable main character, and her ability is just fab. She's so brave and the way she thinks and acts are independent and just plain awesome.

"..the Japanese art of flower arranging.."

Does that even matter, omg.

"How can you not understand?" He pointed at her books. "You read novels. Obviously, I'm here to rescue you."

Books. -pedoface- This has got to be my favorite Will line.

She moved toward Tessa--and was blocked by Will leaping down from the table to put himself between them.

Prince Charming to the rescue. <3

"Will!" he shouted. "Will, she bit me!"

I love it when main characters bite a person and they make a big deal out of it. But still- LOL.

A moment later he was moving toward Tessa; she stepped back hurriedly and he opened the door, pausing only for a moment on the threshold...

I'm scareeed. D:

A woman with tattoos!

Don't sound so astonished. Oh well, it is the 18th century.

"Henry," he said, "you're on fire. You do know that, don't you?"

YES YOU'RE LITERALLY ON FIRE OMG. HE'S NOT COMPLIMENTING YOU HENRY LOOK DOWN YOU'RE ON FIRE.

Henry glanced down at his arm, and his mouth dropped open.

Finally.

"...know what this means?"
Will set the vase down. "That you set yourself on fire and didn't even notice?"

..which is what I like about Will's replies. LOLOL.

"I know you," he said. "You bit me!"

Nicest way of remembering people. omg.

"What is your ability?" Jessamine demanded.

At first, I hated Jessamine's guts, but like, now I just somewhat feel dislike towards her. I'm pretty impressed at what she did. Oh yes, LOTS and LOTS of twists. Cassandra Clare's writing. <3

"Excellent!" Henry looked pleased. "I enjoy being shown things..."

Awk moment where I thought wrong.

"It isn't against the law to be an idiot..."

(x

Tessa, amused at the idea of a fat Will...

Oh, can you imagine that!

"Not at you." said Will, grinning, "more because of you. I've never seen anyone get so excited over books before. You'd think they were diamonds."

I LOVE BOOKS.

And with that, he spun on his heel and walked away..

PSH. TOO FABULOUS TO MERELY TURN HUH. You have to swirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl~ And spin~~~ On your heel. Really. Every time an author uses that phrase I just imagine the character flipping their hair and acting all pompous. fdjaksjd I'll never use that in Incend..

...despite the fact that Tessa had barged into his bedroom in the middle of the night and surprised him playing the violin in his nightclothes.

See how nice Jem is omg he's not even mad.

When she thought of China, all that came to mind was Marco Polo and tea.

-______________-'

"Hear that Tessa? I'm a devil. So are you."

Yeah, okay. Devils and angels. In the same book. <3
Jem began-- and doubled up, suddenly racked with an explosive fit of coughing so violent that he slid from the steamer trunk to crouch on his knees.

OMG JEM ARE YOU OKAAAY? D:

Blood..

Simple word made me get scared.

"We'll probably have to knock down the door--"
"Or," said Jem,  reaching out and giving the knob a twist, "not."

WHICH IS WHY I LOVE JEM.

"BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE--"

"Good God," muttered Jem.

omg. Best reaction ever. I would be screaming and dying and etc.

"Girls shouldn't read novels."

WHAT. DID. YOU. SAY.

The Magister.

Creepiness down my spine.

"How is this different from his being totally ridiculous in the library or the weapons room or any of the other places he's usually ridiculous?"

omg. LOL. Will is RIDDIKULUS. Sorry. Ridiculous. Couldn't help myself.

"Am I blind?" Will's voice floated out of the darkness, tinged with annoyance. "I'm not going to be at all pleased if you've blinded me, Henry.."

I know I'm saying it too much, but um. LOL.

...leaning so far back in his chair that the front legs came off the ground..

FALL FALL FALL ON YOUR BUM.

"So true"...

SO TRUE. LIKE PSHH.

"Charlotte needs you.."

PLEASE WAKE UP. I NEED YOU.

"The boy," he spat. "Stop him!"

In a British accent. I love it when that happens. (:

"You unbelievably stupid.."

SO MEAN.

"Bitch," he snarled at Tessa. "Lying traitorous bitch."

SO MEAN. OMG. SDLFJ:SDL

He struck Tessa to the found, landing on top of her...

UNINTENTIONAL RAPIST.

"Say it."

SAY IT. SAY IT OUT LOUD.

"Will?"

o_o

...his cane clattering awkwardly against her back..

Now is a cane entirely necessary?
"Jian."

SWORD.FJLFKJ:DSFJD

"But I don't want you to die."

AWHH.

"Really, Tessa, must you be such a wet blanket?"

Omg. LOL though.

"If you could pass along my apologies to your brother.."
" I don't think so," Tessa said.

Decline an apology, I see how it is.

Her parasol skittered from her hand..

An umbrella parasol thing in such an intense scene is quite ridiculous.

"Answer me!" he shouted. Fear made his voice crack..

Well well, Will.

"Is he all right?"
"Oh, who cares if he's all right?"

Omg. LOL. Again.

"You are not a fool like your brother. He is a fool and a coward. You are a fool who has some courage."

Exasperation though.

"I knew that I would one day marry you, and you would be mine forever..."

EWWWWW, BUT HE'S OLDD.

So, for the people that hate third person as much as I used to, this book changed my mind about it. Even though I can never manage to write one. But yeah.
It's a high, high, high recommendation! Well, that's all! What did you think of this review?
