Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Yeah, yeah, I know. The Hunger Games IS fabulous, but books 2 and 3 sort of ruined it. Everyone was crazy over it, and I was like, "OKAY. GOTTA READ THE REST OF THE SERIES NOW." I was still pumped up from the awesome plot of book 1. I got disappointed after I read Catching Fire! To be honest, after reading Catching Fire, I wasn't anxious to read Mockingjay at all, even though Mockingjay was a better book. This is one of those series in which the first book is more fabulous than the rest. Oh well!

I didn't really like this book! After all, I don't think it deserves a <5 because I don't want to be unfair. After all, it was my fault for reading a book meant for younger readers. (Although I did notice that a lot of adults liked it as well!) I suppose it's not a teenager book. I would totally recommend this to Elementary school kids. It's meant for middle grade students, but, I would really recommend this to avid Elementary readers. Because if kids in Elementary school don't read, they won't even enjoy this book at all. I guess it's for little kids, and adults. Not teenagers. Please. Especially teenagers like me that expect romance in a good book! (As long as there's romance. I'm happy.)

The good thing was, I actually finished this book quite fast! I got the ARC version, even if it was published already, so it might or might not have been different from the published copy. Just a little, anyway.

There WERE parts I liked in this book! For example, one of them was learning about old fashioned cameras! You had to like, put this glass plate in and the picture would ink on it. It's so kewl~ :D And I'm such a photography freak, too. Also, I learned that old fashioned styles were kind of awkward, like, ladies with big buns and hats and stuff. I didn't know they used gum to keep their hair in their hats. Ew. I'm starting to realize that I actually learned stuff! No wonder adults enjoy it.

I wasn't planning to read this book just yet, but I wanted to read a fast little story so I could kill time between now and Thursday- the day I'm going to the book club in my school hosted by author C.J. Omololu, author of TRANSCENDENCE and DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS.  I'll get to receive this one book the group is supposed to read and discuss. I forgot the title. Facepalm.

The reason why I would recommend this for younger readers is because there's no vocab at all that they don't explain for you right after the word is listed. (If that made sense. Sorry, been typing sentences that don't make sense recently.) And it's really short, too. The words are HUGE. I'm talking HUGE. And there's pictures. Yipee.


Anyway, I'm not really a big fan of fairies, and thank goodness this book didn't have anything big on talking fairies and sparkles. After all, it is a true story. The book's summary sort of spoils stuff, and in my summary I tried not to spoil anything.

I don't really have much to say. (Or maybe I do, but I'm rushing to finish this review and all the stuff I was about to say ran out of my head.)

I guess my quotes will express the rest of my thoughts! And no, there's not much. I said it was short.

Who is that again. omg.

"Most people knew him as the creator of Sherlock Holmes, the world's most famous detective."
OH, SO THAT'S WHO HE IS. :D S. Holmes is fab.

"The book was two and half inches thick and 319 pages long."
Wait, 2 and a half? That's not 319! Unless the words were big as fingers..

 "Elsie's fairy wore an evening dress and a fashionable 'bob' haircut."
Ew. That haircut. I once had a dude cut my hair, and he gave me this haircut, and I cried.

"Frances hated it when the newspapermen tried to interview her."
PAPARAZZI CHASE.

"Why the hell should I care what you think?"
Well. Maybe not for Kindergarteners after all.

Book Review: Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer.

 Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer.

Book Info: Midnight Sun is the much anticipated retelling of Twilight from Edward Cullen's perspective. An unedited partial draft was illegally leaked onto the internet in 2008; consequently, author Stephenie Meyer put the project on indefinite hold.

Liana's Summary: Bella is different from the rest. She's special in her own way. Her blood smells too good for Edward to bear. Stephenie Meyer rewrites Twilight in Edward's point of view, giving her readers the chance to know him better and know what he thinks.

So basically, this book was a 'short' story in Edward's POV. (216 page long ebook. Gosh. Maybe it was because S. Meyer tried to rewrite the whole Twilight in Edward's point of view before her draft got publicized and she quit writing it. <-click the link for more info!-)Usually when authors write short stories in another character's point of view, I always try to read it, just for the sake of getting to know the character better! In this case, Edward! In Twilight, it was all about Bella and her thoughts. I didn't know what Edward thought, didn't know his feelings. But now I know, after reading this story! Everything is crystal clear, and basically a lot of my questions about this series were answered. He actually yearned for Bella a lot. (x Possibly her blood more. What made me happy was that Jacob wasn't in this story at all, except for the part where Bella mentioned him to Edward when she was giving him her theories. But he wasn't there to barge in on their romance! (: So I'm sort of glad that the author didn't rewrite the whole Twilight, because JACOB BLACK IS NONEXISTENT IN THIS STORY. AAHAHAHAH.

I found mention of this book in Stephenie Meyer's website, and I was already planning to read it, although I wanted to put it off for later, when I had no books left to read. (DESPERATE NEEDS CALLS FOR DESPERATE MEASURES. I really thought it was going to be boring -Okay, fine ,I was wrong-. But I DID want to get to know Edward better!)My friend Crystal then read it herself, and she told me that it was really good! So I listened to her and pushed this book a little higher up my reading list. I didn't plan to read this today, but I did anyway, since I'm stranded at my grandma's house with a laptop and no books to read; might as well read an ebook. I skimmed the whole thing, honestly, but I got most of it in my brain! I wasn't reading it to enjoy the plot, since I know the plot already, as I have read Twilight before this. I was just reading it to get Edward's thoughts of Bella and what he thought of her, and was rewarded by many other people's thoughts as well. I originally thought that Bella was too obsessed with Edward, but, he was obsessed with her just the same amount. (Shocker.) Also, I figured that some of her friends weren't really her friends at all. Ugh.

You don't have to read Twilight to enjoy this! It doesn't really matter if you want to read this first, or read ONLY this, because I can totally assure you that Edward is a better main character than Bella. (A lot of people dislike her attitude, and I can't agree more.) Well, if you decide to read this BEFORE Twilight, (Many people already HAVE read Twilight and didn't really like it..) you'll probably be disappointed, or entertained at Bella's obliviousness. You never know, you might like Bella's side of the story too. If you decide to read this only, then, have fun! This series is honestly not that bad as people say it is! If you've read both, then feel free to share your thought process with me!

Can you spell out r-a-n-d-o-m! That literally was out of nowhere. It's either very random or that I wasn't paying attention to what I was reading. LOL.

Girl, does he look like Spiderman to you? No, I didn't think so.

When I was reading Twilight, I thought Edward didn't love her as much as she loved him.

"Can you even touch her? I mean, if you love her...wouldn't you want to, well touch her...?"
Emmet. We get it. omg.

"The self-loathing returned in force. She was dreaming of fictional characters. So much for my conceit."

This was the funniest part in the whole story. So, Bella mutters his name, right. And then he feels all smug. And then she mutters "Edmund" and Edward realizes she's dreaming of fictional characters! This is beyond funny.


"Ugh! Did she get some thrill out of risking her life?"
Apparently she did. New Moon: ALL ABOUT BELLA TRYING TO SUICIDE.
