(Across the Universe #2)
Book Summary: Godspeed was once fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos.
It’s been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. Everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceshipGodspeed.
But there may be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He's finally free to act on his vision—no more Phydus, no more lies.
But when Elder learns shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a mystery that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier. Their success—or failure—will determine the fate of the 2,298 passengers aboard Godspeed. But with each step, the journey becomes more perilous, the ship more chaotic, and the love between them more impossible to fight.
Beth Revis catapulted readers into the far reaches of space with her New York Times bestselling debut, Across the Universe. In A Million Suns, Beth deepens the mystery with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: They have to get off this ship.
Liana's Summary: Elder has taken the role of Eldest, even though he still insists on being called Elder. He didn't expect his time to be a leader to come so soon. It's been three months since Amy was unplugged, by Elder himself. She's been on Godspeed for so long, and yet, the people still look at her differences in disgust. Elder had decided to take the ship off Phydus, but what will that lead to? Orion has left many clues for Amy-- clue after clue, we are closer and closer to the truth.
Okay. Whoa.
I'm glad that I didn't discover this series when it first came out, because if I did, I would be dying in pain right now waiting for book 3 to come out. Thankfully, book three is ALREADY out and it's been out for quite a few months now. (It's time to go to the library. Like, now.)
Beth Revis did SUCH a good job in writing this book. There are sucky sequels in this world, and AMS is definitely NOT one of them. This book was so much better than ATU, and ATU was already really good.
Please do not read on if you haven't read Across the Universe. You'll probably be really lost. Spoilers from ATU and AMS are included.
Both Elder and Amy were more developed in this book-- especially Elder. Ever since Eldest died, Elder was trying to assume the role of leader, but the thing was, he didn't know that the day would come so soon. Plus, he refuses to go by "Eldest"; he keeps insisting on "Elder." What does that say? Basically he's just not ready, and the ship is going to shite and everything is just frexing messed up.
Now, Amy. It's obvious that both Elder and Amy care about each other a LOT, especially that scene when Elder almost frexing died and Amy was just freaking out and doing CPR-- To think that she'd ever doubted her love for him. I think B. Revis made Amy say that she wasn't sure if her "love" for Elder was really love at all, just to prove to us that it really was. Oh hell, it worked.
Amy and Elder's relationship developed so well. It was just, whoa. And then WHOA.
This book's plot revolves around Amy and the clues that Orion, the last Elder, left for her. The first clue she got, I was a bit iffy about that one because well, ORION IS THE FREAKING BAD GUY. What else was I supposed to think? But as the story developed, I saw where Orion was going. Hm. I'm eager to see Orion in action. I just know he's going to be in Shades of Earth. How could he not be?
Jesus, this book seriously had me on the edge of my seat.
Overall, it was AMAZING.

That's it! What do you think of this review?
I agree eith you about waiting. I read the series a couple of months ago, but I didn't enjoy this one as much as book one :-(
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get started on this one. If only I had more time to read since I've been so busy lately.

Everything that I enjoyed about Across the Universe continues in Million Suns, complete with more excellent action, mesmerizing action, suspense and complex plotting. Though some of the danger of the original book has passed, there's still plenty going on here to keep readers enthralled. Author Beth Revis' style also continues to shine with every word, and her storytelling continues to keep me spellbound. Can't wait for the next one in this series.
