Book Review: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer.

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) Nightshade by Andrea Cremer.
Book Summary: Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything- including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?

Liana's Summary: Calla is going to be with Ren. It's arranged. She and Ren both know that. But when Shay comes along, Calla can't help but be attracted to him- because she's seen him somewhere before. And things might change- horribly.

Rate(1-10): 8

This book was actually pretty good! Honestly the only thing that attracted me was the fab fab fab cover of this book. Girl with purple hair and purple makeup and flowers. I'm reading it! LOLOL. The summary is pretty awesome too. Even if I'm not a huge fan of werewolves, I still thought this book was great.

The ending of this book. Ohmygod. WHY MUST IT END THEREEEEEEEEEEE. I'm gonna die.

This is one of those books in which you can't really decide on the guy she should end up with. It's a lot like Ally Condie's MATCHED, now that I think about it. Not the plot- just the romance. In this case, Ren is Xander, and Shay is Ky. (I love that name, Ren. Short for Renier. Skip Beat. Holla. REN TSURUGA FOR LIFE OK) (I always thought Shay was a girl name because of UGLIES. But then again it's short for Seamus. I like that name. Seamus.) Ren and Calla are like, meant to be. It's arranged. Calla likes Ren and Ren likes Calla. But then Shay comes along and Calla can't help but be attracted to him because she's seen him before. Like seriously omg. YEAH SHAY JUST INTERRUPT ON THEIR PERFECT ROMANCE. When it comes to Xander and Ky, I'm totally on Ky's side. But in this book, no matter how similar the romance is, I'm on Team Ren. Because.

First of all, Shay seems a bit squeamish and not as hot as Ren. It's so visible through his attitude. Really. And second of all, he seems like a little brother to Calla instead of a lover. He acts younger than he is? I guess. But then he just lets Ren bully him and all that. Not cool.

And yeah. That's really all I have to say.

Sadly, there aren't any quotes! I got caught up in reading the ebook that I forgot about the quotes. I had some technical difficulties with the NookColor. Sigh. Anyways, that's it!

  1. YAY for Team Ren! I loved him. He is one of those characters that are hard to forget. I loved this book. The mythology used was fantastic, and probably one of my favorite. I can't wait to read your response for the rest of the books.

  2. You're right, the cover is just gorgeous! It would make anyone read the book.
As for the quotes... Personally, I rarely write quotes in my reviews. Only when they are really, and I mean REALLY thought-provoking. Most of the time I just like to enjoy the book, not thinking about the review I'm going to write.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! It's just that quotes are my routine for every review. (x Anyways, yes! I totally agree!

    2. Hey, I hope you didn't get me wrong! :) I wasn't criticizing you or anything... Quotes are important for those who want to make an idea about the author's writing style. It's just that I'm usually so focused on the action that I forget about the quotes... unless it's something that begs to be put down into one of my notebooks.

  3. I've been slightly dying, not completely, to read this book. I might have to talk good ole dad into paying me ebook money to make the tea again. hmm.

Anywho, just swinging by from bookblogs.ning to check the place out. New follower via GFC. :)

  4. I'm sorry to disagree, but I gotta admit Team Shay is much more appealing than an arranged-since-birth marriage. They didn't even start talking to each other until they were about to be married o.O? I did like the book and how it didn't make it obvious which boy she should pick
